Two tanker vessels, ZEFYROS and SAFESEA VISHNU, were attacked around 0030 hrs on March 12, 2026, at the Iraq anchorage area. The ZEFYROS, loading propylene from KAZ Port KHOR AL ZUBAIR, and the SAFESEA VISHNU, loading crude oil from Basrah oil terminal, were hit by explosive-laden boats, likely linked to Iran, resulting in a fire and one Indian crew member's death
The attacks occurred during a ship-to-ship transfer at Iraq's Umm Qasar anchorage, with all 23 crew members of ZEFYROS safely evacuated and the 15 remaining Indian crew members of SAFESEA VISHNU rescued .
