Opposition leader Chuan Leekpai on Friday (7/11) appeared to have secured enough support from other parties to head a new coalition government and reclaim the Prime Minister's job at a time of
political and economic crisis in Thailand.
Most parliamentary members of the small Prachakorn Thai Party said on Friday that they would support Chuan against the other main candidate for the premiership, Chatichai Chkoonhavan. That would tip the balance in Chuan's favour, giving him 211 backers against 82 for Chatichai.
