Gwani Tahir Idris is from Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.
A shuwa-arab in originality.
He memorized the Glorius Qur'an at the age of Nine.
He was amongst the top Nigerian Qur'anic reciters.
Since from childhood, he participated in many national and international Qur'anic competition ( Musabaka ). He represented Nigeria at King Fahad International Qur'anic Competition, Makkah, where he got 1st position in the 2nd category(60 Hizb),making him the second amongst the 3 Nigerians that attained this rank( others being Gwani Umar Al-Bashir, him and Gwani Sadik Siddik Gusau). This was in the early 90's. الله اكب
Until 2013, he was a amongst the panel of judges in the Nigerian National Qur'anic Recitation Competition for years.
In 2010, he was chosen to be among the panel of Judges at King Fahd International Holy Quran Competition, Makkah.
This year, he judged at Kuwait International Holy Quran Award.
