The 2015 Giant Veer is lighter and easier to use than even the Giant XTC which itself is superior to other kids bikes on the market.
The Veer is fitted with a 3 speed rear hub, which is easier to use and more robust than a standard 7 speed gear system.
This gives a couple of advantages, particularly for a less confident child.
The gears can be changed whether stationary or pedaling, so they can stop, having forgotten to put in a lower gear, then simply change the gear to 1st, and start pedalling again. Simple!
The other advantage is that a 3 speed bike has a back pedal brake, they are not relying on handbrakes only, so for some kids this is a big plus.
The bike is a little lighter. Also there is no front suspension. Suspension adds weight, and for the most part is not needed, especially for young, adaptable bodies.
