In recent years, a modern cafe named "Needle's Eye Cafe" has been built nearby, also overlooking the bay. While the cafe capitalizes on the view and name, the original landmark is the natural rock formation on Spital Point.
Visiting the area
For rock-poolers: The area around Spital Point and the rock formations at each end of the bay are ideal for rock-pooling during low tide.
For hikers: Exploring the shore around the rock arch is best done on a falling tide and with sturdy, good-grip footwear due to the uneven, wet, and slippery rocks.
For history enthusiasts: The area has a long history, with rock formations and cliffs containing fossils from millions of years ago.
