Buen Camino” — A 1000 km Solo Journey Across Spain | Full Camino de Santiago Documentary
“Buen Camino” is the story of an epic solo walk across Spain.
KSPN2’s Chris Nelson hits the trail for 37 days and 1000 kilometers with only a backpack, camera, and drone—capturing breathtaking landscapes, inspiring people, and deeply human moments as he works his way across the Iberian Peninsula on the legendary Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.
Along “the Way,” he discovers equal doses of adventure, friendship, and life lessons.
The Camino de Santiago—the Way of St. James—is a network of ancient pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela, northwestern Spain.
From the Camino del Norte on the Basque coast to the Camino Francés through Spain’s heartland, Chris’s 1000 km route unfolds across mountains, forests, wheatfields, cathedrals, and coastlines—each step revealing another layer of the country’s history and soul.
Starting in Irun, the path climbs above the Cantabrian Sea to San Sebastián, passes through Zarautz, Gernika, with an emotional stop in Bilbao.
It’s a road of laughter, blisters, reflection, and transformation.
In Bilbao, Sunday is family day. Chris spends it with Jaime Lafita, a talented musician, surfer, and businessman living fully while battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Surrounded by his wife Lourdes, his poet brother Iñigo, and their children, Jaime’s story becomes a living lesson in resilience and joy.
Jaime continues to create art and raise awareness—recently cycling 900 km to Brussels to deliver a message of hope to the European Union:
“I’ve done a great effort coming here… now it’s your turn.”
Despite the challenges, he lives by one mantra: Never Give Up.
Chris then continues his walk from St Jean Pied de Port, France and heads on foot over the Pyrenees for another 30 days on the Camino Frances on his way to Santiago de Compostela

The Message

Uphill and uncertain, beautiful and brutal, filled with strangers who become family.
It’s proof that we move forward best when we walk together.
