A group of Baltimore City teachers is pressing forward with a federal lawsuit against the Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center (LTYC) and Baltimore City Public Schools, claiming they have not been paid for several months of work last school year.
Cedric Benning, one of the eight teachers involved, expressed frustration, stating, "I'm in a whole new school year and still haven't been paid for the work I did last year." The lawsuit alleges significant financial hardship due to the unpaid wages.
In a recent development, Dr. Dermell Brunson, founder and president of LTYC, acknowledged through a public relations statement Tuesday that the teachers have not been paid. The statement noted, "All contractors, except for the eight persons in the lawsuit, have been paid in full," but did not provide a reason for the non-payment.
