Stewart's Ballad for wind band (Audio)

Описание: Stewart’s Ballad is dedicated to my beloved grandmother, Christine (Bowles) Stewart, who was born on February 8th, 1937, and went on to be with the Lord on November 1st, 2018. On Christmas Eve of 1959, she married her husband, Homer Newel Stewart. At the very young age of 54, she received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi (Oxford). She retired from South Panola School District as a middle school librarian in 2012. She enjoyed the very small and mundane things such as bird watching, quilt making, and reading.

As her youngest grandson, I have very fond memories prior to her decline in health. In the second grade, I had to get off the bus at my grandparents house because of my mother’s job. She would always greet me with so much love and always have a little snack she prepared for me before I got there. It’s the sweet little memories like that I would do anything just to go back and relive. It was short thereof, she began to suffer from Alzheimer's disease and she’d ended up in Brandon, Mississippi at my aunt’s house where she calmly passed away in her sleep. I never truly mourned for her until a couple years later. This piece is a tribute to her.
