Election Commission announces Rajya Sabha polls for 24 seats across 10 states on June 18

Описание: Election Commission of India on Friday announced elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states, with polling scheduled to be held on June 18.

According to the Commission, the elections are being conducted as the terms of several sitting members of the Upper House of Parliament are set to expire between June 21 and July 19. The polls will cover four seats each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka, three seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two seats in Jharkhand, and one seat each in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

The Commission stated that June 8 has been fixed as the last date for filing nominations. The elections are expected to play an important role in shaping the strength and representation of political parties in the Rajya Sabha.

Officials said the polling and counting process would be conducted according to the prescribed electoral schedule in the respective states.
