Fleeing Ukraine - 'We left our husbands in tears because we love our country and families so much'

Описание: Ukrainian refugee, Tatyana, said her 24-hour journey to Poland from Kyiv was very difficult because there were a lot of people trying to escape the area.

Towns on the outskirts of Kyiv - Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel - were destroyed by Russian shelling causing many people to flee.

She came to Poland with her daughter and sister and her sister's two daughters. She said: "We ran for our lives to get the children to safety, so they don’t have to hear the shelling every day and take them away from psychological trauma.

We left behind our husbands and we left in tears because we love our country and our families very much.

We are headed to Latvia to our relative but we’re hoping we will be able to come back home to Ukraine as soon as possible because we want to live in our homes.

We feel a lot of grief, anger and negative emotions about the terrible Russian invasion of Ukraine."
