Meet Jovani and Gilbert, two dancers at the New York City Ballet, founded in 1948 by the legendary choreographer George Balanchine. From Bach to Bizet to Stravinsky, Jovani and Gilbert can do it all, all the time. What does a night off look like for two stars at one of the most renowned dance companies in the world? Folks, it’s episode 49, and tonight we’re kicking it at superbly chill Three Diamond Door in Bushwick, where you’ll find stand-up comics bringing it in the back every Tuesday night.

Jovani is a principal dancer at the NYCB, originally hailing from Joinville, Brazil. After starting ballet at the Bolshoi Theater School at the age of eleven, he joined the Miami City Ballet in 2012, where he was a soloist and principal dancer. In 2019, he was recruited to join the New York City Ballet as a soloist.

Gilbert Bolden III is a dancer with the NYCB corps de ballet. He was born in San Diego, California and began dancing at the age of nine. In addition to ballet, he enjoys arranging choreography and designing fashion. When he’s not on stage, you’ll find him lighting up the red carpet at the company’s Lincoln Center gala.
