An oil refinery of leading global energy and chemicals firm Aramco has halted operations at its Ras Tanura refinery in Saudi Arabia after a drone, suspected to be fired by Iran, struck the facility. According to a report in Bloomberg, the refinery is among the largest in Saudi Arabia with a capacity to process 550,000 barrels of crude per day.
Following the drone attack, a blaze occurred at the site that was eventually brought under control, said officials. Located on the Persian Gulf, the plant was shut down on Monday as Aramco officials assess the damage, said people in the know of the matter.
