Instant Pot Rice & Lentil Porridge - Quick Pressure Cooker Moong Dal Khichri - How to make Khichdi in an Instant Pot
Make this quick and easy rice and lentil porridge recipe. It is such a delicious comfort food.

Ingredients required for making Khichri -
1/2 cup skinless split yellow moong bean (moong dal)
1/2 cup short grained rice (rinse it very well until the water runs clear)
3 large potatoes halved
2 medium carrots cut into large chunky pieces
1 dry bay leaf
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder(optional)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 cup frozen green peas, thawed
1 large tomato cut into chunks
1 & 1/2 teaspoon salt or as per taste
5 cups of hot water. First add 4 cups and later add 1 cup more if khichri seems too thick. Can add more to get that desired consistency.
1 tablespoon ghee
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes or a dry red chilli
1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala powder. Please add the Garam Masala powder off heat to prevent it from burning.
Serve this with pakora or Bengali labra or it is a meal by itself.
