And two of its friends!
It's taken a LONG time but I finally have the three Pumpkin Sisters - Hoover's trio of firsts from 1967. The first UK Portable 2154. The first 1346 style Junior and the first UK Convertible 1128.
You'll see all three of them in this video but for the most part I'm focusing on the Portable. Made in France for the European market the Portable was a commercial failure. It was big, bulky, heavy and hard to use although the concept was spot on. Make a truly compact vacuum cleaner for modern homes that didn't have a great deal of space.
We see vacuum cleaner companies aping this idea a lot today, but let's go back in time and see the genesis of the compact luggable in action!
