DFDR - Aeroflot Flight 593 (with English subtitles)

On March 23, 1994, Aeroflot Flight 593 conducted a passenger flight from Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow to Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. The Airbus A310-300 was carrying 75 people, including 63 passengers and 12 crew members. The flight crew consisted of:
• Captain: Andrei Viktorovich Danilov
• First Officer: Igor Vladimirovich Piskarev
• Relief Captain: Yaroslav Vladimirovich Kudrinsky
In the cockpit was a family friend to Kudrinsky: Vladimir Makarov, he too was an Aeroflot pilot travelling as a passenger.
Kudrinsky's children: Yana (aged 12) and Eldar (aged 16) were also onboard the flight and were invited into the cockpit by their father.

At the time of the crash captain Danilov was in the passenger cabin. Four hours into the flight the aircraft crashed in a remote mountainous area of Siberia near Mezhdurechensk. Tragically, there were no survivors. The investigation revealed that the crash occurred after the captain allowed his two children into the cockpit during the flight. His 15-year-old son inadvertently disengaged part of the autopilot while seated at the controls. This caused the aircraft to enter a steep bank, which went unnoticed by the crew until it was too late. Despite their attempts to recover, the aircraft entered a spin and crashed. The incident underscored the importance of strict cockpit protocols and contributed to changes in aviation safety regulations.
