To say this song is an Christian favorite could well be the understatement of the year. I recall one dynamic Christian lady, Mrs. Eunice Holloway, who is now in heaven, that attended the church I grew up in and was second mom and Sunday School teacher to many young people through the years. She loved this song dearly and requested it every time favorite songs were requested on some Sunday evenings. Beyond that memory though, this song states so well what Easter is all about, our Lord Jesus Christ, His earthly ministry which was just for us, His sinless life to show us the way, His death for our sins so we could be saved, His glorious resurrection to conquer the wages of sin which is death, making it possible for the last phrase in this song to be absolutely true, THIS JESUS IS MINE, because I have invited Him to be my own Savior to save ME from MY sins. Nobody else could do that. Nobody else ever could. I would have been lost forever without Him. The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ His son." Have you asked Jesus to become your own Savior? To save you from your sins and take you to heaven when you die? If you haven't, ask Him right now, just pray and tell Him you believe in Him and that He can do that, and ask Him to. And He will! It couldn't be any simpler. You could have that settled today for eternity! What better time could there possibly be than right now? And if you have done that, how about sharing that GOOD NEWS with someone near you today?
