Welcome to FOODIE LA, a show dedicated to good gastronomy in the city of angels. On this episode, I return to the San Gabriel valley and eat at Phoenix restaurant.
The dishes are:
Szechuan Eggplant with Ground Pork
It's a little spicy, with a sauce similar to kung pao dishes, for a little kick balanced with sweet. Keep in mind, Szechuan usually means spicy, from mild to hot.
Fried Tofu with Seafood
If you order this dish, make sure to get the seafood separate. This keeps the fried tofu nice and crispy. You can dip the tofu in a soy sauce scallion dressing. The tofu is battered and deep fried. Eat it right away for maximum tastiness while it's hot but be careful not to burn yourself when you bite into it.
Singaporean Fried Vermicelli
If want a change from chow mein , chow fun, or chow fan (fried rice),
try this dish out. It's not greasy, and it comes with barbeque pork and shrimp. Pair fried noodles with a yellow curry sauce and this is what you get.
For dessert try Sweet Sesame Puree
It comes piping and tastes exactly what the name implies, sweet black sesame puree'd into a goowy liquid dessert.
