Описание: At the turn of the 20th century Cunard was being pressured on all sides. At home White Star was producing a fleet of four superliners: the "CELTIC-CLASS" or "Big Four." Across the channel North German Lloyd was dazzling the public with a quartet of four-funnelled liners: the "KAISER-CLASS" or "Four-flyers." To make things worse the Germans had snatched the Blue Riband as well. Cunard responded with the two largest, fastest, and most luxurious ships the world had yet seen: LUSITANIA and MAURETANIA. In terms of size and luxury they would eventually be surpassed by the likes of OLYMPIC, IMPERATOR, and Cunard's own AQUITANIA. Even so MAURETANIA would remain the speed queen of the Atlantic for an astounding 20 years.
