SLEDGE HOCKEY DRILLS AND SKILLS | PICKING UP PUCKS ALONG THE BOARDS

Описание: Picking pucks up off the boards can be both intimidating and challenging for many players. Most don’t know what to do so the puck ends up blowing by, bouncing off the front of your sled, or a variety of different things.

Basically, you end up still chasing the puck.

Here are a couple tips to help you build confidence and skill while learning to pick pucks up off the boards:

Pinch the puck along the boards and keep it moving forward
You can pin it and battle along the boards
You can bring it to your inside hand and take it to the net or make a play
Drop pass back to teammate trailing the play

This is a super simple drill to practice with any two players or a coach. Practice while stationary, and then with speed, and then with even more speed.

It’s an extremely valuable skill to develop, and you will need it, especially at the higher levels of the sport.
