In a recent interview, Makhija underscored the significance of the India-US partnership, stating, "The India-US partnership is the most important engagement globally, and Kamala Harris is the right person to take it forward as she recognizes the significance of the relationship."

Addressing former President Donald Trump's immigration policies, Makhija remarked, "Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. He is engaging in the same kind of behavior we have seen in some of the darkest moments in world history, where leaders have scapegoated those individuals and communities that do not even have the right to vote." He criticized Trump's narrative, asserting, "You can see that he is blaming all of the country's problems on immigrants, and it is not real; it is not realistic. It is simply aimed at inflaming tensions and driving divisions."

On the H-1B visa issue, Makhija highlighted Harris's legislative efforts, stating, "Kamala Harris was the sponsor of a bill to fix the H-1B backlog. The problem was that the Republicans did not support it, even though they claimed to favor legal immigration. Now it is clear that they do not want any immigration."

Responding to Trump's comments that "Kamala, you are fired," Makhija asserted, "Trump was fired by 80 million American people in the 2020 presidential poll, and they still do not trust him."

Makhija's comments reflect the Democratic Party's priorities and concerns as the election approaches, particularly regarding immigration policy and the critical relationship between the United States and India.
