'Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.'
The Apocalyptor uses an abused delay chip to produce a ripping fuzz which is fed through a transformer based EQ section to give you complete tonal manipulation capabilities. This pedal is capable of double tracking style fuzz, lofi white noise as well as chaotic and unpredictable sounds you'll struggle to describe. With the addition of a momentary glitch footswitch you can freeze the delay signal in an infinite loop. Twisting the control knob while holding this down will let you manipulate the speed of the glitching. Slow down the delayed signal to undecipherable stretched out noise. The Apocalyptor is a whole heap of fun and has been a staple on my pedalboard since I put the prototype together. If you feel like there's not enough crazy on your pedalboard right now, The Apocalyptor will well and truly fix that.
CONTROLS
Control:
This knob controls how closely tied the delay signal is to the original input signal. Think of it as having a second guitarist attempting to copy what you're playing. As you dial back the control it's as if the second guitarist is getting more and more drunk and struggles to mimic what you play. Fully clockwise the delayed signal will be hardly discernible from your input signal and as you dial back the knob and relinquish control, the second voice will become more and more departed from your guitar signal until it spews out random, glitchy echoes of your original signal.
Feed:
This controls the amount of output from the fuzz section being fed into the EQ section. At lower settings you will be able to produce thinner, lofi sounds and as you turn up the knob you will hear the signal begin to thicken.
Structure:
You can almost think of this as a gain control although it behaves as more of a textural tone shaper. This is highly interactive with the Obesity and Feed knobs.
Obesity:
This controls the size or bandwidth of the signal being fed into the EQ section. Fully counter clockwise will give you a full fat thick fuzz sound, as you turn the knob clockwise it squeezes the signal down like a gastric band for a harsher, angrier fuzz. Again this knob is highly interactive with the Structure and Feed knobs so don't be afraid to experiment.
