Brana: Remote Climb via Kaptan’s Exposed East Ridge

In this video, I take on Brana (2,253 m) in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, not by the well-trodden northern path—but by a forgotten line from the south: the eastern ridge of Kaptan. This is a rarely traveled, unmarked route that demands careful orientation and confident movement on exposed terrain. The ridge itself offers sections of UIAA Grade II scrambling, with narrow rock spines and airy drops on both sides.

The date: November 16th—just days before winter usually seals the mountains shut. But instead of snow, I was gifted with warm sun, dry rock, and crystal-clear skies. No crowds. No footsteps but mine. Just silence and stone.

From Kaptan’s pre-summit, the route leads to Brana, an alpine lookout with panoramic views over the heart of Slovenia’s highlands.
