Monochromatic Christmas Themed Photo shoot Using Only 1 Light

Описание: Today we’re going to do a one light Christmas themed shoot with an all pink esthetic!

Happy Holidays everyone! Every year I carve out some time to create some holiday themed shoots because, why not? It’s fun, you get to be super creative, and stay on trend!

In typical fashion, I wanted to do something that was eye catching but instead of my traditional red, I went all monochromatic pink.

Obviously a lot goes into any shoot, and what you put in front of your camera is going to dictate the success of your shoot. So planning and execution are key here. The outfit, model, styling, makeup all was on point for a successful image.

To tie everything together I shot against a Coral color seamless background from Savage Universal.

I really love my seamless papers, and while you can often change the background color using gels or post processing, I still like to use specifically colored backgrounds, especially because it’s something you’ll need to do when shooting full length.

As the title says, this is a 1 light shot using just a monolight (Profoto D2) and a large umbrella with diffusion. Fundamentally what this does is give me a large broad soft light source. The idea for this shot is that I want to have everything evenly lit.

For a second look I turned the umbrella into the wall and used it as a bounce light while adjusting the scene to give it a bit more depth, combined with a v-flat to add a bit more light back into the shadows.

After playing with posing and composition I want to further tweak the image in CaptureOne just to give it an even tone and a look that has a retro/vintage feel to it.
