Footage of Rhodesian's listening to a radio broadcast of Prime Minister Ian Smith's proclamation of UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence). Three mornings later, the country celebrates Remembrance Sunday.
Many Rhodesians including Smith, a Royal Air Force Officer, served with British forces during wars involving the British Empire.
UDI was decalred because of the unwillingness of the white minority to agree to black majority rule.
