Описание: Hokokuji Temple : Hokokuji Temple is one of the Zen temples which belong to Kenchoji Temple of Rinzai Sect. It was established by Tengan Eko in 1334 (The first year of Kenmu-era) to commemorate Ashikaga letoki, grandfather of Takauji, First of the Ashikaga shoguns. The principal image enshrined in the main hall is Shaka-nyorai-zazo (sitting Shakamuni), which was crafted by a famous Buddhist sculptor, Takuma Hogen, and is specified as cultural property by Kamakura-city. In the Kasho-do, (annex), a detailed statue of the originator Butsujo Zenji(his posthumous title)is also enshrined. This statue was crafted in 1347, this is also cultural property specified by Kamakura-city. Another statue enshrined here is Kasho-Sonjazo disciple of Buddha. In the Kamakura Museum, many important treasures of this temple are preserved. Among them are Toki-Shu, a manuscript of Chinese poems written by the originator, his wooden stamp and a statue of Sei-Kanzeon-Bosatsu (the Kannon). The manuscript and wooden stamp are specified as important cultural properties by the Japanese Government. Moso bamboo grows here, and Tengan Eko's retreat was here, and forms the current bamboo garden.
