Geology professor Shawn Willsey journeys to over 10,000 ft above sea level high in the Pioneer Mountains of central Idaho to explain the complicated by fascinating geology of the Pioneer metamorphic core complex, a region of uplifted, ancient metamorphic rocks brought to the surface by low-angle normal faults during the Eocene (~50 million years ago). My apologies for the extreme face close-up and erratic wind noise as I tried to use my iPhone to record rather than the GoPro (live and learn!).
