🗽The French Revolution was the result of the intensification of multiple contradictions. At the time, French society was rigidly hierarchical; clergy and nobles enjoyed privileges but bore minimal taxes, while the Third Estate suffered heavy burdens and poverty. Coupled with prolonged war and the extravagance of the monarchy, the treasury was on the verge of collapse, and the government's attempt to increase taxes on the Third Estate sparked strong discontent. The Enlightenment's ideas of liberty and equality resonated deeply, challenging feudal autocracy. Simultaneously, the victory in the American Revolutionary War set an example for the French people in resisting the old regime. These intertwined factors ultimately ignited the spark of revolution, and a storm that changed the course of history swept across France.
