"GPU-Acceleration of Applied CFD"
Industry needs continue to grow for advanced CFD including transient applications, high-resolution turbulence such as LES, and multidiscipline simulations. The increased levels of parallelism from utilizing GPUs in a high performance computing (HPC) environment can enabled these larger and more complex CFD simulations to be addressed in a practical and cost-effective way.
This talk examines the current state of parallel CFD for industry use, and the opportunities for a second level of CFD solver parallelism through hybrid CPU-GPU heterogeneous computing. Examples will be provided that include the latest GPU developments for ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, and other leading CFD software. Hardware configurations will also be discussed on the balance of co-processing with large GPU-based servers as the basis for future distributed memory clusters.
