Adonis! Aphrodite & Persephone's Boy (Toy)! 😳 2 Shockingly Beautiful 18x24 Wandering Straight Pours

Hello Friends!
We continue with our Aphrodite Series, highlighting Adonis today.

Adonis has a very interesting backstory, which I tell you about in the video. (Too much to type here lol)
After he was born to Myrrha (a daughter of the King of Cyprus) he was taken by Aphrodite to Persephone to raise in the Underworld. They both took care of him until he was a man, and then they fought over him.. !

The story of the two Mothers intrigued me, and made me think how different the worlds must have been.. so I decided to do 2 canvases with different palettes for each Goddess.

My colors are:
Golden's

Pouring Medium
Liquitex Gloss
Medium & Varnish
Paint + a bit of Water
Floetrol

I laid down a Black basecoat on each canvas, and poured a small cup that I layered carefully in a Wandering Straight Pour diagonally across the canvas, then tilted and stretched to cover the canvas. I like the black negative space, especially with all the bold colors and metallics we are using.

I really love how the Persephone pour turned out!! The Quinacridone Crimson is an amazing color, and it worked and blended beautifully with the Copper and the Gold. There are some incredible Gold cells in that piece!!

I really like the Aphrodite pour too, there are some really cool cells from the Purgare Silver along one side, and I love the streak of Copper thru the middle area. There are some areas that have beautiful details in the deep Turquoise that I really love.

They are 2 very different pours, but both have Copper in them, unifying them. Aprhrodite and Persephone, united in parenting.

I have really been enjoying researching the mythology, and reading some of these stories. It's a joyful experience to try to bring them to life on my canvas.
