The Quiet Beauty of Axos, Crete - Local Food, Sfendoni Cave & Museum

I had a wonderful time in Axos thanks to the delicious local food and amazing tours at reasonable prices:

1. Mum's Food – This local restaurant serves very tasty beef stew. It’s worth visiting for its nostalgic atmosphere and great food (the best I’ve had in Greece—only 7 euros for beef stew and a Greek coffee). However, parking is limited and the streets can be narrow.

2. Wooden Sculptures Museum – I was given a 45-minute guided tour in English by Christos, who shared detailed explanations and Greek mythology stories. Only 5 euros.

3. Sfendoni Cave – The largest cave in Crete. Friendly tour guide and safe to visit. Only 7 euros.

I visited these places during the weekend, so they were available.
Driving in Crete is safe as long as you follow the speed limit. You’ll get to enjoy amazing mountain views and occasionally see sheep herds passing by.
