Описание: Plein Air Grand Marais is a favorite annual event where artists travel from around the country to spend one week painting "en plein air" before submitting their favorite captures for judging and exhibit.

Plein air painting is a style of outdoor painting where artists work directly in the open air, capturing the essence of the landscape and the ever-changing light and atmosphere. During the event, participating artists spend several days painting on location in and around Grand Marais, creating artwork inspired by the scenic surroundings.

In addition to the competition, Plein Air Grand Marais offers workshops and demonstrations by accomplished artists, providing educational opportunities for both artists and art enthusiasts. These workshops cover various aspects of plein air painting, including techniques, composition, and capturing the essence of the landscape.

Throughout the week-long competition, there are numerous opportunities to meet the artists and observe them at work through group paint-outs, demonstrations, and the crowd favorite, the Quick Paint where artists have 90 minutes to go from blank canvas to completed painting.

This event is organized by Outdoor Painters of Minnesota and Cook County Historical Society's Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery.
