"From Yesterday" is a song by the American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, released on November 7, 2006, as the third single from their second album, A Beautiful Lie. It became the band's first number-one single on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
The music video for "From Yesterday" is especially notable—it was the first American music video ever shot entirely in the People's Republic of China. The full version of the video is about 13 minutes long and plays out like a short film. It was heavily inspired by The Last Emperor, with scenes filmed in the Forbidden City and the Qin Emperor's Palace.
The video includes symbolic and dramatic visuals: Chinese soldiers, traditional rituals, masked figures, and even gladiator-style combat—all blending with the band’s performance for a surreal and cinematic experience.
