Elephants Alive is a conservation organisation in Limpopo and one of their programmes is called Ndlopfu Gogos or Elephant Grandmothers, and it entails introducing the grandmothers of the surrounding communities to elephants.
Just like elephant herds have matriarchs, these grandmothers are the backbone of their communities, but most of them were separated from their natural heritage and have never seen wild elephants in a game reserve.
We meet some of them on the this episode of 50|50 :)
