Lokesh Lays Foundation for Krishna River Retaining Wall in Tadepalli

Описание: In a major step to address flood problems in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for a retaining wall along the Krishna River.

The project aims to protect residents of Mahanaadu area and nearby colonies from recurring floods.

The retaining wall will be constructed from 0.9 km to 2.6 km downstream of the Prakasam Barrage on the right side of the river.

The ₹294-crore flood protection wall will be designed to withstand flows up to 15 lakh cusecs.

Engineers plan to install 1,920 deep piles reaching 26–38 meters underground to ensure structural strength against floods and seismic forces.

Once completed, the project will protect nearly 50,000 residents of Sundarayya Nagar, Mahanaadu Colony, and other low-lying areas.

The retaining wall will also safeguard key regions of the Amaravati capital area and National Highway 65.

The project fulfills an election promise and revives a long-pending flood protection plan for the region.
