Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann feel like they should be opposites, but in this epic video essay I try to argue that they are actually cool and chill with each other. Evangelion, despite its bleakness at times, still presents a hopeful message in the end, one that works with many of Gurren Lagann's central themes. This is most clear through the character arcs of Shinji Ikari and Simon, who are some people from an anime idk which one but they're in the thumbnail
