Mr Wallace reveals that businesses at the Mooloolaba Wharf have reported zero diesel available, preventing fishing vessels from heading to sea and putting dozens of local businesses at risk. He questions the Government’s claim that Australia has weeks of fuel supply remaining, arguing that real-world shortages suggest a very different story.
Also weighing in on Australia’s defence decisions in the Middle East, giving a “cautious tick” to the deployment of the E-7 Wedgetail surveillance aircraft but raising concerns about the safety of Australian personnel operating in an active war zone. Mr Wallace questions the decision to send air-to-air missiles overseas while Australia’s own munitions stockpiles are already under pressure.
Finally, addressing the Government’s decision to grant humanitarian visas to members of the Iranian women’s football team. While supportive of protecting women fleeing repression, he stresses that national security checks must be thorough and transparent, calling on the Home Affairs Minister to explain what vetting processes were undertaken.
