Описание: This research paper investigates the role of individuals' complete work histories in determining the likelihood of working after retirement, moving beyond typical analyses that focus on factors immediately preceding retirement. Utilizing data from the Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), the study examines how various career characteristics, such as time spent in different employment types (full-time, part-time, self-employment), occupational status, and job changes, influence this decision. Key findings indicate that longer periods of part-time or self-employment, higher occupational status (especially for men), and more flexible careers (numerous job changes) increase the probability of working post-retirement. Additionally, divorced women who did not remarry were found to be significantly more likely to work after retirement, highlighting the interplay of family and work histories in financial vulnerability. The authors conclude that inequalities accumulated throughout one's working life continue to impact decisions and opportunities in retirement, urging policymakers to consider these long-term career trajectories.
