What is Laya?

In music, the speed of time is called Laya. Tempo is the synonym of Laya.
Regular intervals between two sounds create a particular Laya. The longer the interval, the slower the Laya and the shorter the interval, the faster the Laya.

Based on that we consider mainly 3 types of Laya.
1. Vilambit Laya- Slow Tempo
2. Madhya Laya - Medium Tempo
3. Drut Laya - Fast Tempo

What is Layakari?

Layakari means activity in Laya. We can create Layakari by playing with Laya. Layakari adds regularity as well as complexity in music depending upon its use. Layakari can be simple or complex. Here, we are going to talk about basic Layakaris.

1. Thaah Laya- Single Speed
2. Dugun Laya- Double Speed
3. Tigun Laya- Triple Speed
4. Chaugun Laya- Quadruple Speed.

Laya Practice

For Laya practice, we will need a metronome. We can use any Metronome application to practice this. Hence, we are providing practice tracks for you to make it simple.

Layakari Practice

Here, we have learnt only about simple layakaris. We have provided majorly 3 practices to understand and practice the simple layakaris. 1. Dugun practice, 2. Tigun practice, 3. Chaugun practice and the combination of all. We have shown the basic practice of all layakaris together. You may use more combinations and experiment on them to grow more in layakaris.
