1979 (POP veteran vocalist, Shirley Bassey performs a non-classical version of this inspirational song on location in Jamaica. Although not a trained classical singer, Shirley was told at an early age that she could have become a wonderful alto if she chose that path. She did not. Nonetheless, her single of this song in the early 60's was a hit for her. This live rendition is from Shirley's 1979 TV Variety Show, filmed on location in Jamaica)

Shirley recorded Ave Maria and released it first as a single back (A-Side) in 1962. The (B-Side) of the single was the song, 'You'll Never Walk Along'. Ave Maria has been included on numerous Shirley Bassey compilation collections over the years. Shirley delivers a powerful rendition of this classic song on location in a Jamaican Church.
