Kurmagram a Vedic Village SimpleNaturalTraditionalDharmic
Is a farm community located in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh state, India. Spread over 60 acres of land, It was started in the year 2018 under the aegis of Nanda Gokulam Goshala Trust.

This community also maintains a Goshala and a Vedic Gurukulam. Currently there are about 80 residents in this community. It is a community based on the instructions of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, under the guidance of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Swami Maharaj.

The goal of this project is to set up a role model community, for the whole world to replicate and follow the spiritual, eco friendly and self sustainable practices in order to solve the multiple problems faced by the modern world today such as

1) pollution – air, water and food
2) climatic changes
3) global warming
4) unemployment
5) health disorders
6) psychological disorders
7) addictions – to drugs, social media and gadgets
8) poverty
9) economic crisis
10) recessions
11) political
12) wars between nations, communities and individuals etc

Kurmagram is striving to create a self-sufficient and self-sustainable community along with reviving and preserving our ancient Indian Vedic culture based on Vedic scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita and SrimadBhagavatam. In order to achieve this, the community members have chosen a very simple, eco friendly and agrarian lifestyle. Some of the aspects of the simple and ancient lifestyle that are being practiced here are as follows –
Green buildings – Houses constructed with eco friendly materials such as mud, stones, bricks, wood and limestone. No cement or iron.
No use of electricity; we use oil lamps for lighting in the dark.
No gas stoves or cylinders for cooking. We use fire-wood or cow-dung cakes for cooking.
No soaps or detergents for washing & bathing purposes. We use natural soap-nuts.
We produce our own food through natural farming.
We make our own cloth through handlooms.
