The Fankou lead and zinc mine is now able to pre-reject more than 105,000 tons of waste rock from the raw ore annually, leading to a significant reduction in waste rock and electricity costs. This impressive reduction in waste rock has also resulted in environmental benefits, as the waste rocks can now be sold as building aggregates, providing further economic benefits.
