3-4 August 2023, Department of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of South Africa together with BRICS Youth Energy Agency hosted the V BRICS Youth Energy Summit in Sandton, Johannesburg as a part of the official plan of the South African BRICS Chairmanship 2023. The Summit was attended by over 400 delegates from 33 countries of the Global South. Along with BRICS youth, the Summit brought together South African energy leaders and executives, representatives of international organizations and country embassies. The focus of the Summit was on BRICS solutions for energy prosperity of the African continent.

Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and BRICS Youth Energy Agency extend their appreciation for support of the Summit to Rosatom & Mission Impact, South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI), Mintek (Council for Mineral Technology), Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), Energy & Water Sector Education Training Authority (EWSETA), South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), and The Geostrata.
