Today’s episode explores Jung’s view that the clearest window into a person’s true nature appears in two moments most people overlook: when you reveal something tender, and when you begin to outgrow the version of yourself they were comfortable with. Jung argued that ordinary life lets people hide behind charm, manners, and social roles, but vulnerability and growth put pressure on the ego—and pressure exposes character. The person who is safe with your pain will protect it; the person who is threatened by your becoming will reveal themselves through envy, distance, criticism, or sabotage. In this sense, Jung believed you do not truly know someone by how they treat you when you are easy to love, but by what they do when your openness gives them power and your evolution forces them to confront themselves.
