After playing a 22" bass drum for the bulk of my playing career, I recently switched to a 24" x 14" bass drum. The tuning of this drum is slightly different than the tuning of a 22" drum. The most important tip is that in order to maximize the sound potential of the drum, in my experience, the drum should be tuned a little bit higher than you would think. By doing this, it engages the shell and provides the body and presence that a lower tuning does not.
For specifics, in this video the batter head is tuned to approximately a D# to E (approximately 80 Hz). The resonate head is tuned to approximately an F (approximately 84 Hz).
