In this video we cover electric current, resistance, and Ohm's law. Electric current is the result of a potential difference, or voltage, that causes an electric field inside a conductor like a metal wire.

Electrons cannot just flow, constantly accelerating due to the electric field inside the conductor. The charges run into atoms and other charges. These collisions impede the flow of charge and we call this the resistance of the object. The resistance depends on the material of the object and the size and shape, specifically the length and cross sectional area the current flows through.
Every material has a resistivity, which is a way to quantify how the atomic structure and electron density of a given material affects electron flow. Resistance depends on the resistivity of the material the object is made of.
