'No question' storming of Capitol Hill by pro-Trump rioters was an 'insurrection'

Описание: Sky News US contributor Michael Ware says the storming of Capitol Hill by pro-Trump rioters is the “darkest day” in modern American history with “no question” it was an “insurrection”.

“This is the darkest day in modern history for American democracy, it also diminishes America’s power and standing across the world,” Mr Ware told Sky News.

“This will be the signature note of the Trump administration.

“There is no question, this was an insurrection."

Mr Ware said even conservative networks have been labelling the events as “treason”.

“Why, because they physically invaded the chambers of Congress where the Constitution was actually unfolding,” he said.

“The Constitution says specifically that today is the day that you certify the results of the Electoral College.

“These rioters, these insurrectionists, these seditionists actually interrupted that.

“I think it is a symbol of the true strength of American democracy that these congress men and women are looking to continue those hearings tonight amongst the debris and what will have to be within a heavily barricaded Capitol”.
