C6 Corvette fuel level sender sensor B replacement p2066 p2068

Описание: This is a video with a few tips and pitfalls with replacing the fuel level sending unit in the passenger side gas tank. The symptom of this problem is a malfunctioning gas gauge, especially once you get below half a tank of gas, fuel system related messages on the DIC, and error codes P2066 and/or P2068 pertaining to fuel level sensor B. B is the sensor in the passenger side tank.

In this video I show you why techron WILL NOT fix this problem. The contact fingers are completely worn off on the rheostat float arm, not making contact with the rheostat. Horrible design by GM, and I can't believe they have not addressed this bad design that has been around for decades now!

The main pitfalls I ran into:

-crossover pipe stuck - grab with large pliers and pry against the frame
-tank pipes stuck in crossover pipe couplers even after crossover pipe is pulled out of the tank - spray with Pyroil silicone spray through access hole, then pull apart by hand
-hooks broken off on tank side pipe coupler - glue it back, or drill and screw small screws through the flange
-connector pins on new sensor hard to place into old connector - use old wires: desolder old wires from old sensor, solder them to new sensor
-collar popped past its stop due to prying with pliers - when assembling, once the crossover pipe is fully seated in the tank, meaning only about 1/3" from the SECOND ridge in the pipe, as you see in my video, turn the collar so it aligns with the slots in the tank, then pry on the collar with a large pry bar, and hit the collar with something like the butt of a large screw driver as you're prying, and it should pop back past its stop

PS: my car is a manual z51
