This is a longer version of the same setup on the previous video, but with a pilot drilling operation to help with the 16mm deep #74 peck drilling.
This now works as it should without any issues with the drill becoming clogged. I've also clocked the drill centres and made those more precice given the extended position of the quill. Note:- the knee is the Z-axis for the CNC.
This uses a modified version of the HAAS Lathe post processor and my own utility program that looks up the tool number in my ToolOffsetFile.txt and creates a G92X#Y#Z# offset for each tool. I then expand the offsets to create an absolute set of position commands from the rear RH tooling plate location dowel which is X/Y zero. The base of the tooling place it Z zero.
The offset for turning tool is initially set using a centre finder, and the heights are all measured with a height gauge.
It's not that quick to set up, so it's only worth it for complex jobs or ones where you need to make a lot.
This isn't optimised for speed at this point, just to get the job done with as little side cutting as possible since the tool is essentially a parting tool style. It could be made to run much faster, but it's not worth doing that for just 10-20 parts.
