September brings our annual holiday to France and a pleasant Sunday excursion to visit and film the Train des Pignes up in the hills above Nice. In contrast to previous years when we have filmed in hot sunshine, the day we filmed in 2017, 10th. September, was cold and largely overcast. The train runs on the metre gauge Chemin de Fer de Provence line featuring 1923 built Mallet no.E211 which was owned by Portugeuse Railways. The train operates during the summer months between Puget - Theniers and Annot and the video sees the train at various locations on both the outward and return journeys. Not substantially different to my previous videos of the Train des Pignes due to the same loco having been used for several years and new locations are hard to come by but it is a record of the day and this year we managed to include some shots of the loco movements at Annot.
Thanks to the G.E.C.P. association who operate the steam trains over the line.
