New Zealand authorities have implemented a 72-hour lockdown on Auckland after three mystery coronavirus cases were detected in the city.
Under the lockdown, residents will only be allowed to leave home for shopping and essential work purposes.
Restrictions have also been introduced outside of Auckland, however, no other location has been locked down.
The new infections prompted a halt in quarantine-free travel between New Zealand and Australia, with Kiwi flights now classified as red zone flights for an initial 72-hour period.
The move comes as Australia increases its incoming traveller cap – with New South Wales welcoming up to 3000 travellers per week into hotel quarantine from Monday.
